Davao City police overwhelmed by mayor's trust

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) expressed their gratitude to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for her support to them and trust in their capacity after the latter opposed the request of the Philippine National Police chief to ask their cops to volunteer to be assigned in Caloocan City.
In an interview, DCPO city director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said they are stunned with the faith that the city mayor has given them as vanguard of the public and partner in fighting criminality and maintaining the peace and order of the city.
“We are overwhelmed by the trust and confidence of our City Mayor on DCPO,” he said.
According to him, they have already talked with the mayor to validate the veracity of the issue.
Duterte-Carpio, in an earlier report said there are already some cops from Davao City who signified interest to be assigned in Caloocan City, however, a memorandum was not yet released. She said she will again talk with Tagum to further discuss the issue.
She added that she cannot stop those who will volunteer to go since this is a democratic country.
Duterte earlier opposed the idea of transferring Davao Cops because of the critical security situation in the city since it is the home of the President and raised a recommendation that PNP should instead reshuffle policemen near the area.
