The opportunities are from Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and Singapore brought by RK Franchise Consultancy, the expert in the Franchise Development business, PT&T, White Aura, 7-Eleven, Promate, and 2Go Express.
RK Franchise Consultancy and Senior Franchise Consultant Rudolf Kotik, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said that franchising industry in Mindanao particularly in Davao City is doing “excellently” with more players attracted and
engaged in franchising.
“Franchising industry is doing excellent here, a lot of people are into franchising,” he said at the sidelines of the expo’s opening ceremony.
Davao Region, the Filipino International Franchise Association (Fifa) said, is in the forefront in the franchise industry with more companies in the country engaging in franchising in the area.
The number of franchises in the country currently reached some 1,400 to 1,500 with combined sales at US$13 billion. Of the 1,500, some 70 percent are local companies while only 30 percent are foreign franchising firms.
Of the local companies, around a hundred are based in Mindanao.
Kotik said that every year they are looking at adding some 100 players in the industry.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao director Ma. Belenda Ambi, in her speech during the opening ceremony of the expo, said that the exhibit of franchise business opportunities “is a good venue wherein linkage of aspiring
entrepreneurs with owners of innovative franchise business opportunities can grow, diversify, expand and make profit.”
For its 10th year, the expo will feature a franchise seminar by Kotik who is responsible for the success of 570 Filipino franchise companies on Monday at Grand Regal Hotel Mei King function room.
He will tackle what is franchising, history of franchising, defining franchising, franchising 101, what does a franchise provide, benefits of buying a franchise, how to select a franchise, advantages and demands of franchising, mistakes
by franchise buyers, buying a franchise, franchising your business and legal franchise requirements. He will also discuss the Franchise Operations Manual.
Trademark Specialist Sokrie Malaco will talk about the importance of a trademark for anyone’s business and how to get one.
Kotik also said that the expo is already a success as the expo area is 100 percent filled with exhibitors of 50.
“We are able to fill up the whole event despite the fact of the bombing here a week ago, though there was an impact in a sense that some of the visitors have backed out, but still we were able to replace them because we have a
waiting list of companies who wanted to join us,” he said.
The three exhibitors who backed out are based in Singapore, Cebu, and Manila.
The 50 exhibitors of the expo, Kotik said, are mostly from Luzon.
“We have quite a number of companies, a lot of new concepts which joined for the first time,” Kotik said.
Among the exhibitors are 7Eleven, Aquastar, Bigby’s, Bon Appetea, Botoy’sLitsonManok, CMA, Contours, Eastern Petroleum, Foss Coffee, H2O Lifesource, House of Frappe, Metrodog, Mia maison, Motormate, Mr. Softy Ice Cream,

Roger “Jong” Salcedo of Shawarma House, one of the exhibitors of the expo, in a separate interview, shared that events like this helps the franchise companies to be introduced in the market and be even known more.
Salcedo said it was their second time joining the expo, the first was in General Santos last year.
