Milo Marathan Davao to hit 14,000 runners

ORGANIZERS on Thursday said they expect some 14,000 runners when the 37th National Milo Marathon Davao Qualifying hits the road on Oct. 13 in an out-and-back course from Roxas Avenue.

Davao coordinator Kenneth Sai, chief of Vantage Sports Promotions on Thursday said they aim to surpass the turnout of over 13,000 last year.

"Runners from Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Tagum, and Davao are joining the race including members of the Philippine Army in Cebu, Far Eastern University's Rafael Poliquit, Jr. and Davao leg 2012 21K champion Nerza of Davao City," Sai said during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum at Calle Cinco Restobar along J.P. Laurel Avenue on Thursday.

It features the three-kilometer (3K) kiddie run, 5K, 10K, and 21K categories for male and female runners.

Registration is going on Adidas, second floor, at Gaisano Mall of Davao or online at www1.nestle.com.ph/milo/marathon/register.html.

Fees are P75 (students, children), P100 (3k and 5k) P500 (10K) and P600 (21K). Walk-in registrants are advised to bring an empty Milo 300-gram pack upon registration.

Top qualifiers will advance to the national finals set on Dec. 8 in Manila.
