The Bureau of Customs's (BOC) Port of Davao collected a total of P488,494,281.57 in taxes and duties for the month of August.

The collection is 4 percent, or P19,956,281.57, up from the agency’s target of the month, which is P468.53 million.

During the month, the BOC Davao City ports had the highest cash collection totaling P428.89 million, 95.91 percent of the total collection. The BOC General Santos port followed with collection of P49.605 million, while and the Mati port collected P903,394.

The figures were obtained as of noontime of August 30.

The officer in charge of the office of the district collector in Davao, lawyer Edward James Dy Buco, in an interview expressed confidence of the continuing target hits of the BOC Davao Port for the months ahead.

For the past five years, the BOC Port of Davao has consistently surpassed its assigned collection even as the entire BOC and major ports in Metro Manila and other parts of the country failed to reach their target. In 2012 it collected P5.910 billion, which was 10 percent over its assigned target collection of P5.378 billion.
