Davao classes suspended due to transport strike

Some private schools in Davao City have decided to dismiss their classes early due to the transport strike of members of transport group PISTON on Monday. As early as 4 in the morning, militant jeepney drivers have set up “persuasion” points all over the city to encourage fellow drivers to join the strike in protest of the incessant oil price increases in the country.

The strike was part of a nationwide protest action of the group with about 200,000 members.

Meanwhle, PISTON members from Cagayan De Oro and General Santos City have also participated in the strike.
