Fourteen homes were razed to the ground by a fire that hit a village in Davao City on Saturday.

Affected residents of Platinum Street in San Rafael Village failed to save their valuable possessions because the fire spread quickly, witnesses said. Some families managed to bring out some household appliances but these were melted away by the intense heat.

Arson investigators said flames were first spotted at the ceiling of one house before the fire spread.

They added that many homes in the area are built close together and are made of light and flammable materials.

Investigators believe that faulty electrical wiring may have caused the blaze.

There were no injuries reported. – with a report from Rodirey Salas, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
