SM CITY Davao will bring in a number of artists in the city from October 18 to 20.

Live at the SM City Davao-Annex, The Voice of the Philippines finalists Thor of Team, Radha of Team Lea, Eva off Team Sarah, and Kimpoy of Team Bamboo will perform for the Dabawenyo fans on October 18 at 6 p.m.

The show will be some sort of a homecoming performance for Thor after his stint in the said singing contest.

Some of you may not know yet that Thor or Etorre Dulay is a native of Panabo City, Davao del Norte. He started singing professionally at the age of 19. He can also be regarded as an adopted son of Davao City since he got his college degree at the Ateneo de Davao University.

Apart from Thor, Radha is another performer to be excited about. As a member of the disbanded singing trio Kulay, which gained popularity from mid-1990s until the early part of 2000s, is enough reason for me to watch her perform live. Being a kid of the 90s, I definitely know the caliber of Radha especially when she was still with her band.
Of course, "Mommy" Eva and Kimpoy are performers to watch out for as well.

Meanwhile, on the following day, still at 6 p.m., Kapamilya singer and Asap mainstay Erik Santos will serenade SM shoppers anew.

On October 20, Kapamilya young stars Ella Cruz and Paul Salas will bring excitement to SM City Davao's shoppers. Ella used to play a mermaid, which was the lead character in the now defunct fantaserye Aryana. Paul, on the other hand, is a co-star of Ella in the said show. And another trivia, Paul is the son of Jim Salas, a member of the 1990s hit dance group Universal Motion Dancers (UMD).

There's really so much to enjoy this weekend at SM City Davao especially that they are also holding a mall-wide sale on the said dates.

The Buzz shifts programming format

Last Sunday, October 13, The Buzz hosts Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach bid farewell to the followers of the show. Both of them revealed that their three-year stint in the Sunday entertainment talk show had been memorable. The Buzz ran for 15 years with Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda as among the original hosts.

However, Boy will stay but the show will already be employing a different format. To be co-hosted by Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen, the said show will already be known as Buzz ng Bayan, which will premiere on October 20.

I'm not so sure about the latest format, though. But judging from the new title, I think, they are getting the pulse of the public on certain showbiz issues. Well, let's wait this Sunday if my guess is correct.

But what exactly puzzled me when I heard Toni and Charlene telling their audience that it's already the last airing of The Buzz (with the old format), is the reason behind its reformatting. Could it be that the show is not getting the kind of rating that they used to enjoy in the past years? Could it be that they just want to offer something different, an innovation to the way entertainment stories are delivered?
