Three new variants of Honda Philippines Inc.'s (HPI) XRM motorcycles were launched on Wednesday.

HPI announced the official start of sales for the XRM 125 model variants —Dual Sport, the Motard and Dual Sports Extreme, with the Motard designed for paved roads and the other two for on- and off-road terrain.

The production of XRM specifically for Philippine road conditions has also paid off for the company, as it sold around 1.2 million units over the past 10 years, Cesar Mugas, Mindanao motorcycle sales manager, said.

The company executive told the BusinessMirror that this makes the XRM model the top-selling motorcycles among all models and brands sold in the country today.

“Thanks for the Visayas and Mindanao bikers, they account for 70 percent of this total sale,” he said.

The company pointed out that it is the “on- and off-road” character of Mindanao and Visayas roads that made the XRM popular with local bikers.

“It is also the most copied and most modified among all models,” the company said.

The price range of XRM model has also made it affordable although the more affluent clients may opt for the higher priced CRF 250, which was introduced in the market only in April this year, and the XR 125, launched in July this year. The CRF 250 was priced at P210,000 and the XR 125 at P79,000.

HPI said with the XRM model “being the most modified in the country, it also has the most number of available accessories in the market.”
