Police hunt 3 men in Toril shooting

POLICE are hunting down three suspects who shot a 19-year-old man at Samantha Homes in Lizada, Toril in Davao City Friday evening.

Chief Inspector Angel Sumagaysay, Toril police chief, identified the victim as Jovele Venoya Aluvalang, resident of Babisa in Lizada.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound at the back of his head. He was shot at 9:30 p.m. while he was taking shelter from the rain at Kiddot's Store in the area.

Initial investigation conducted by Toril police showed the victim was with his cousin named Gio, when three unidentified men on board a black Honda Wave motorcycle stopped by in the area.

According to an eyewitness identified only as Mich, one of the three suspects disembarked from the motorcycle and shot the victim. She added the suspects were covering their faces with towel.

When the victim fell on the ground, the suspects fled towards Saavedra Street. The victim was rushed first at Mediquest Hospital on McArthur Highway in Lizada, but was transferred at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for proper medical treatment.

Sumagaysay said they are still investigating if the victim knew the three suspects.
