Councilor declares net worth of P40.7M

DAVAO City Councilor Melchor Quitain remains to be the richest councilor of the 16th Davao City Council based on the Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) filed for the year 2011. A copy of the SALN of 21 councilors, obtained by Sun.Star Davao from the City Council secretariat office, showed that Quitain declared a total net worth of P40,700,000 for his seven real estate properties at P37,420,000 and three four-wheel vehicles amounting to P3,280,000.

Quitain also declared banks deposit amounting to P1.2 million that came from his income, salary and honoraria.

Quitain's liabilities, as well as his net worth, were not indicated in his SALN.

There were no changes in Quitain's SALN declaration compared to last year in terms of his personal and real estate properties.

Next to Quitain is Councilor Marissa Salvador-Abella whose net worth is pegged at P20,970,693.56.

Salvador-Abella, in a joint SALN with his husband, declared seven real estate properties located in various areas in Davao City, including four houses and lot units in different subdivisions here.

She stated in her SALN that she acquired the seven real estate properties at P10.3 million, including improvements.

She added that her personal and other properties amounted to P20.4 million comprising of five four-wheel vehicles, jewelry, company assets, and various investments. Her liabilities amounted to P9.8 million.

Salvador-Abella's SALN for the year 2010 was not available as of this posting Thursday.

Except for Youth Council representative Jashera Gonzales whose asset is just a little more than P140,000, the councilor with the least assets is Councilor April Marie Dayap whose combined assets totaled P355,500 without a single liability.

The councilors with the lowest assets and net worth declaration is Councilor Jashera Gonzales with a total net worth at P196,360.

The following are the councilors who submitted their 2011 SALN to the City Council secretariat with their respective net worth: Paolo Duterte, P19,881,800; Edgar Ibuyan, P2,970,000; Emmanuel Galicia, P7,634,260; Tomas Monteverde IV, P380,000; Al Ryan Alejandre, P2,430,000; Louie John Bonguyan, P7,480,000 ; Joanne Bonguyan, P960,000; Karlo Bello, P1,833,000; Conrado Baluran, P4,921,342; Victotio Advincula, P1,167,561.6; Nilo Abellera, P4,348,000; Rene Elias Lopez, P2,369,000; Arnulfo Cabling, P1,800,000; Bernard Al-ag, P5,180,000; Dante Apostol, P940,000; Myrna Ortiz, P2,600,000; Jackson Reyes, P639,000.

One of the councilors who recorded a slight decrease in net worth include Councilor Duterte.

The SALN of councilors Pilar Braga, Jimmy Dureza, Leah Librado-Yap, Berino Mambo-o, Jose Louie Villafuerte, and Rachel Zozobrado are unavailable as of this posting Thursday.
