Piapi fire affected 262 families

AROUND 262 families were affected by the fire that razed through three barangays last Monday, an official said.

Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) assistant head Liwayway Caligdong confirmed to media Tuesday, March 22.

Affected were residents of Barangay 21-C, 31-D, 76-A Piapi, Boulevard, Davao City. These are composed of 183 house owners whose houses were totally damaged, 35 renters, 37 sharers and seven boarders.

In Barangay 21-C 11 families were affected with 10 homeowners, one sharer while in Barangay 31-D, 145 families were affected with 90 family house owners, 26 renters, 32 sharers, and seven boarders.

In Barangay 76-A, 83 house owners, nine renters, and 14 sharers were affected. Caligdong said they are still validating the reports before the financial assistance will be released. She said community cooking was the first and immediate help given to the fire victims.

She added victims of previous fire incidents on March 8 and March 10 will receive financial assistance worth P2 million as they were already assessed and interviewed.

An assistance worth 10,000 for house owners, P3,000 for renters, P3,000 for boarders , and P5,000 for partially damaged house await validated victims of fire incidents.

Other forms of assistance such as kitchen utensils, beddings, and other necessities were also given.

Recent fire victims are either staying with their relatives or are staying at barangay gyms.
