Three young siblings were burned to death when a fire razed their house in Barangay 7-A in Poblacion here Sunday noon. Killed were Jerome Aguas, 7, and his younger siblings, Rose Mae, 6, and Roselyn, 1.

Investigation showed the victims’ mother, Lorna May, left her children at home to buy food at a nearby store and was shocked when she saw their house already engulfed in flames. Her husband, Roger, was also away for work.

Aside from the Aguas residence, two other houses were also burned down.

Minutes after the fire was placed under control, firefighters and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives retrieved the charred bodies of the victims.

Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, although they are looking at the possibility that the fire may have been caused by either an electrical short circuit or an unattended coil insect repellant.

The father of the victims, Roger Aguas, said her wife left the kids to buy them snacks.

The victims were brought to the Angel Funeral Homes as barangay officials try to get some financial assistance for the victim from the City Social Services and Development Office.

It was the fourth fire incident that happened in the city this month, which ironically is being observed as Fire Prevention Month.
