First killed in the incident was Edgar Mocusi, who was on his first day as security guard of the supply shop.
The robbers also shot dead inside the warehouse Allen Jones Polo, 22, the store owner's driver. Irene Zamora, the 16-year-old niece of store owner Rea Lai, was also killed.
Lai, who is five months pregnant, was shot in the stomach and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police said the robbers took hostage Zamora, who was found dead inside a Pajero that was used by the suspects as getaway vehicle.
The two robbers, however, were killed in a shootout with the police. The two tried to flee upon the arrival of responding policemen.
During the shootout, however, Police Senior Inspector Rene Angelo Alampay of the Panabo City Police Office was hit in the head. He was declared dead on arrival at the Davao Doctor's Hospital in Davao City, said Superintendent Marcial Magistrado, officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office Davao Region.
Arnel Broa, an employee of Yidong Agri Supply, said the two men followed them inside the store.
"Gikan mi nangaon sa gawas. Nagmotor mi sa akong kauban. Pagsulod namo sa gate, misulod sab sila dayon gipusil ang guwardiya (We just had lunch outside and they followed me and a companion here. When we entered the gate, they tailed us and shot the guard)," Broa said.
Broa added the men shot him but he was able to run into the warehouse, where the suspects shot Polo instead.
“Misulod dayon sila sa opisina ug ilang gipusil si Ma'am Rea, dayon gi hostage si Irene (They went inside the office and shot Ma'am Rea and took Irene as hostage)," he said.
Broa said the men took P900,000 cash, boarded the Pajero parked outside and fled toward Tagum City.
Magistrado identified one of the dead suspects as Dexter Marcellones. The other robber is yet to be identified as of this posting Tuesday.
Also undergoing treatment at the Rivera Hospital is Darius Pilutos, an employee of the Yidong Agri Supply.
It was learned that personnel of the Bunawan Police Station who were patrolling at the boundary of Barangay Lasang in Davao City were among those who responded.
Recovered from the crime scene was an XRM motorcycle with plate number 8385-YL.
Police are still conducting investigations to identify the men behind the foiled heist.
