14 medical frontliners test positive for COVID-19 in Davao City

At least 14 of the 19 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases recorded in Davao Region last June 11 were frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) from Davao City, bringing the total number of infected HCWs to 104 in the region.
Department of Health (DOH)-Davao Assistant Regional Director Lenny Joy Rivera confirmed this on Saturday shortly after the agency released the case profiles of the 19 cases in its June 11 regional situation update.
Rivera did not confirm if the infected HCWs were part of the team conducting the swab testing in communities with a high number of COVID-19 cases.
She said the infected HCWs were asymptomatic.
DOH-Davao normally releases information cards containing the profiles of the patients a day following the release of the regional situation update, indicating only the number of cases per area in the region. The information cards contain information such as age and address of the patients, and whether they are symptomatic or asymptomatic, but without elaborating on the patient’s history of exposure.
Of the 19 cases, 17 cases were recorded in Davao City: three in Barangay Buhangin, two in Barangay A. Angliongto Sr. in Sasa, and one each in Barangay Tigatto, Barangay Matina Aplaya, Barangay 27-C, Barangay Maa, Barangay Indangan, Barangay Mintal, Barangay 20-B, Barangay 11-B, Barangay 23-C, Barangay 76-A, Barangay 19-B, Barangay V. Hizon, Sr., Sasa, Davao City.
The other two came from Pantukan, Davao de Oro, and Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.
As of Friday, the DOH-Davao reported a total of 417 COVID-19 cases in the region: 347 in Davao City, 26 in Davao del Norte, 16 in Davao del Sur, six in Davao de Oro, 19 in Davao Oriental, and 3 in Davao Occidental, with 31 deaths and 254 recoveries.
