The theme for this year is “Go wild for Life, Combat Biodiversity Loss.”

On June 27, a parade will start at 9:00 am from City Hall to People’s Park followed by the launching and opening of the exhibit at 10:00 am.

On the following day, at 7:00 pm there will be an Ecotour at Bahay Pasilungan at Philippine Eagle Center followed by another Educational discussion and Barangay talents night for nature.

Along with the culmination day of the Ecofest Davao event, Mylai Santos, ecoteneo director of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) said that the AdDU Grade School and Junior High School will perform a dance excerpt about environment.

“We are supporting the Ecofest, for this year during the culmination day, Ateneo de Davao Grade School will be performing “Panaghoy” a dance excerpt on environment and for the Ateneo de Davao Junior High School will be performing “Kaharian ng Araw,” Santos said.

During the environmental discussion, Lemuel Manalo, media advocacy specialist of Interface Development Interventions (IDIS) said that Davao City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) invited different representatives from Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF), Ecoteneo, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and also IDIS.

There are no final plans yet, but Manalo said that different groups might discuss architectural designs for biodiversity, bird watching, sustainable schools and campuses, biodiversity in wildlife conservation, watershed and water conservation.

Manalo said that there will be a Harana sa Kinaiyahan Concert after the culmination night featuring Samadhi artists and Popong Landero.

The event is in partnership with Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), League of Barangays in the Philippines, Watershed Management Council, Davao City Water District, IDIS, PEF and SAMADHI group of Musicians.

For the Barangay talents night for nature, Engineer Lakandiwa Soliman Orcullo of CENRO said that the talents night is not a competition and they are only inviting different Barangays to present and participate in the events.

“This is our way of celebrating the world environment day, basically it is a gathering of activities and showcasing best practices in environment and environmental conservation and management in various platforms,” he said.
