The National Economic and Development Authority has been asked to fund a feasibility study for a proposed bridge that will link the Island Garden City of Samal to this city.

Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario is hoping that the feasibility study will be completed before his term ends next year.

Del Rosario is asking the government P90 million that will be used for the study. He said if the project is approved, the construction of the bridge would start under the new administration.

The governor said that if the study would be completed within his term, his successor would have to pursue the project.

“Whether it will be located in Panabo City or Davao City, the best location will be determined by the technical experts who will conduct the study,” he said.

Del Rosario said the study would determine the ideal location of the bridge.

“But since there is no study yet, I am suggesting to put it in Panabo, because Samal is part of Davao del Norte,” he said.

Del Rosario said that most people thought that Samal is part of Davao City, as the city remains to be the main gateway to the island.

The Island Garden City of Samal, known as Samal City, is a component city of Davao del Norte.

“I want it to be located in Panabo City to connect Samal to its home province,” Del Rosario said.
