This city’s Chimes Specialty Store last week launched a Filipiniana section in collaboration with the Davao Ecocrafts Association and the regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry. “The admirable partnership with Chimes is to showcase the best of Davao and Mindanao products, highlighting handmade novelty items that the artisans of our region proudly produce,” said Mary Ann M. Montemayor who heads Davao Ecocrafts, Inc., a group of entrepreneurs responsible for locally made eco-friendly products.

“We’ve found the right people who are pursuing their passions and are currently at different stages of their entrepreneurship,” she said.

Participating in the Filipiniana Section are core members of Davao Ecocrafts Association namely: Ms. Montemayor’s Le’ Mar Arts & Crafts; Crystal Seas (Mae and Carmaela Braceros Alcantara); Tadeco Livelihood Training Centre (Maricris Floirendo-Brias and Juvey Fernandez); Great Gifts and Souvenirs (Leny V. Castillo); and Tanoy Furniture (Mercy M. Tanoy).

“Just like in the Davao Ecocrafts’ Tindahang Pinoy at Aldevinco (Shopping Center), the Chimes’ Filipiniana Section carries exceptional items which are mostly housewares, fashion accessories, and ethnic products that are seldom found in the city,” said Ms. Montemayor.

“The beautiful handicrafts being sold at the Chimes’ Filipiniana Section show the distinct style and craftsmanship of our Mindanaoan artists,” said Marizon S. Loreto, DTI-11 regional director. “We are doing our share in developing good, if not the best, standards we can all be truly proud of. You see, it is not solely about the products but the people and communities responsible for the designs and production of truly Filipino creations we are so proud of as well.”
