COVID-19 cases in Davao region breach 1,000 mark

DAVAO CITY – The total number of coronavirus disease cases recorded in Davao region has now reached 1,018 after 25 more people tested positive on Wednesday.
Based on the COVID-19 Situationer for Davao Region, as of 5:00 pm of July 22, the number of active cases is now at 417 after 10 more cases were added in Davao City, four each in Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental, and three in Davao Occidental.
Among the latest cases, nine are Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) and eight are returning Overseas Filipinos.
The DOH said three of the active cases in the region are critical, seven have severe symptoms, 72 have mild symptoms, and 335 are asymptomatic.
Davao City has the highest number of recorded cases at 712, followed by Davao del Norte with 104, Davao Oriental with 81, and Davao de Oro with 67. Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental have recorded 40 and 14 cases, respectively.
The latest cases in Davao Oriental include three LSIs from Manila and an overseas worker from The Netherlands.
In Davao del Norte, two of the four cases are OFWs who arrived via sweeper flights on July 2 and 5. The other was an LSI and one is a 70-year old male from Kaputian District in the Island Garden City of Samal who has no travel history.
The DOH also recorded six new recoveries on Wednesday — four are from Davao and two from Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental.
Davao region has recorded a total of 558 recoveries and 43 COVID-19 deaths.
