Landslide closed Davao Diversion Road

According to Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Ma. Teresita Gaspan, authorities had immediately responded to control the flow of the traffic and the concerned agency began the clearing operation to restore the traffic condition.
"May backhoe na nag-clearing ng kalsada (Backhoe was used to clear the road). We have already deployed our mobile and peers from traffic group mainly to assist the traffic," she said.
The regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao declared road closure along the Carlos P. Garcia National Highway (Diversion Road) from Maa to Matina Pangi including Shrine Hills intersection from all types of vehicles "until clearing operations along the MatinaPangi section are done."
DPWH-Davao spokesperson Dean Ortiz, however, said that only southbound was passable as of Thursday afternoon.
The photo DPWH posted on their Facebook page showed that one lane of the road was occupied by scattered landslide debris like large rocks and soil from the hill portion of the road.
DCPO Traffic Group chief Ernesto Castillo said that around 4:30 p.m., the road remained impassable and the traffic enforcers diverted the motorists to Mc Arthur Highway.
No injury was recorded nor was any car damaged.
