Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has offered a P1-million reward for the arrest of the killers of Ferdinand 'Enzo' Pastor, who was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Quezon City last June 12.

GMA News' Jun Veneracion reported via Twitter that Duterte "personally offered" the reward.

I want to make sure that the perpetrators of this crime are found and brought to justice,” Duterte was quoted as saying in a news release by the Justice for Enzo Pastor Movement (JFEPMovement).

The JFEPMovement said Enzo Pastor was a personal friend of Duterte and that the mayor "had been following the achievements of the young race car driver ever since he won the Asian Formula Renault in 2002."

When he was shot and killed, Pastor was "driving a truck carrying his race car. He was en route to Clark International Speedway for the final leg of the Asian V8 Championship," the news release also stated.

Pastor succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head, neck and arms. Police recovered shells from a cal-.45 pistol from the crime scene.

Pastor was the first Filipino to participate in the NASCAR Whelen Euroseries Open Championship race circuit.

“We should all be very proud of the motorsports achievements he has brought to the country. His tragic death was not only a loss to his family and children, but it was a loss for the country as well," Duterte said.
