Cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus in Davao City continue to increase at an alarming level.

This was disclosed by Dr. Jordiana R. Ramiterre, head of Reproductive Health and Wellness Center of the Davao City Health Office, in an interview Monday after the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.

Ramiterre said they capture 10 HIV positive cases every month during tests they conducted at the RHWC.

"But this figure is only at our center as there are also other clinics and hospitals that conduct HIV testing. The figure could be more and high," she added.

She said RHWC conducts free testing daily during office hours and in the evening starting at 7:00 pm every 3rd Wednesday of the month for those who wish not to be seen publicly.

She said many still are shy and do not want to come out into the open as the stigma associated with it is still there.

Ramiterre meanwhile said despite the free services they offer for testing, many do not come to pick up their test results and they do not know whether the person is positive with the disease submitted for treatment.
