BROKENSHIRE College varsity mainstay Cynthia Jaro clocked a total of three hours, 13 minutes and 59 seconds to finish second over-all in women's forty-two kilometer (42K) of the 2012 Cebu City Marathon held Sunday at the Cebu IT Park. She failed to defend the Davao title won by close friend and training partner Mona Liza Ambasa last year. The latter relegated herself to the women's 21K category having a knee injury two months ago.

Ambasa's injury, however, slowed her down as she only landed on the 21st place after registering 2:13:59.

Kenyan runner Joan Jeruto stamped her rivals with a time of 3:13:26 to pocket the P60,000 top purse while Jaro of RunClub Davao settled for the P30,000 runner-up prize.

Another Kenyan, Kenyan Susan Jemutai, timed 3:23:16 to claim the third-place prize of P20,000. Christy Tutor (3:24:38) and Madelyn Carter (3:33:14) wounded up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Kenyan bet Richard Mutisya (2:28:40), David Kipsang (2:30:12) and Fredrick Mathiu (2:31:48) grabbed the first three spots in men's 42K.

Dabawenyo Elmer Bartolo, meanwhile, occupied the seventh place in men's 21K ruled by Kenyan Samson Tuwei. He checked in at 1:16:57.
