High School reigning champion Calinan National High School leads four other entries in the secondary division.
"Teams will still get transportation subsidy, free lunch for two days, baseball equipment, free training from Japanese experts and other freebies. The top three teams in each category will also receive cash prizes, trophies and baseball equipment," Mallari said.
The champion teams will each get P8,000 while the next two placers will go home with P4,000 and P2,000.
She added that they may soon form a selection team of best players from the annual tournament to represent Davao City in future national competitions.
Davao City Baseball Association (DCBA) president Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia, for his part, said they have been receiving invitations to compete in Manila.
Sarabia said, "Since Manila baseball officials have been gracing our league in the past, we have been invited to tournaments in Manila. We will soon see a Davao team compete in the national little league events."
Mallari also said that it's the ultimate goal of DCBA, organizer Datu uchida Development Foundation, Inc. and major sponsor Tokyo Kichijoji Lions Club to bring the kids not just in city competitions.
"We really want them to also compete nationally and internationally," Mallari has added.
