Another Philippine Eagle was shot in Tambobong, Baguio District in Davao City on Sunday (February 21), just six months after Philippine Eagle Pamana died from gunshot wounds in Davao Oriental.

The recently shot eagle named Matatag is still alive and was brought by a certain Tiborcio Solis to the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) center on Monday (February 22).

Matatag is now recovering from his shattered right wing, PEF Executive Director Dennis Salvador said.

It was learned that Matatag was released back in the wild just over a year ago.

The eagle is said to be in the dispersal stage where it is independent of parental care and wanders until it reaches sexual maturity.
PEF to file case vs. suspect

Solis' brother, Rolando, confessed to having shot Matatag. He surrendered to authorities in Baguio District, Davao City.

Salvador said they will file a case against the suspect.

Last August 2015, Pamana was shot and killed in San Isidro, Davao Oriental by an unidentified shooter.
