Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency killed suspected notorious drug ring member during buy-bust operation in Davao City, seizing over P500,000 worth of drugs, the PDEA said on Wednesday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Benifredo Campos, 34, of Lopez Jaena Extension, Tandang Sora, Butuan City and Sta. Marihatag, Surigao del Sur.

"Campos is an identified member of the 14K Mindanao Drug Group. Their supply of illegal drugs is from Carmona, Cavite and transported to Mindanao mostly in Region 11," Cacdac said.

Reports said that on Feb. 15, around 3:30 p.m., combined elements of PDEA Regional Office 11 and Toril Davao City police were about to arrest Campos when he drew his .38 caliber revolver prompting the operatives to shoot the suspect.

The suspect was immediately brought to the nearest hospital but doctors could no longer revived him.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were about 60 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with a street value of P540,000, a cal.38 revolver, and a mobile phone.
