Following last week's massive anti-drug raid in Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has raised the stakes against drug rings in his turf, offering a sports utility vehicle as a reward for informants.

Duterte said he is willing to give the SUV reward to people who can offer information leading to drug rings, radio dzBB's Davao affiliate Raul Tolibas reported Monday.

The report also said the mayor vowed to crack down even harder on drugs, after police disclosed the methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) seized from last weekend's raid appeared to be from abroad.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. was quoted in the dzBB report as saying their initial analysis showed the shabu seized during the raid was not made in the Philippines.

Police are now verifying information the shabu could have been mixed with rice brought into the city recently.

Last week, at least seven suspected drug pushers were killed while more than 30 were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Davao City.
