City treasurer back to work, says he won't resign

DAVAO City treasurer Rodrigo Riola said Monday that he is not planning to resign from his post. Riola reported for work Monday after going on a leave of absence for more than a month.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Riola had a "misunderstanding" last December, when the latter refused to initially certify City Hall's proposed Supplemental Budget (SB) 3, which contains appropriation for the Christmas bonus of City Government employees and Pasko Fiesta.
Riola eventually certified a revised SB 3 amounting to P397 million and was passed on third and final reading by the City Council few days before Christmas.
He reportedly filed his leave of absence a day after at least 25 heads of the district and division offices under the City Treasure's Office were reshuffled.
His sick leave from December 17, 2012 to January 16 was confirmed by Erwin Alparaque, chief of City Hall's Human Resource and Management Office.
Riola extended his leave of absence until the end of January.
