Some buildings in the Davao region sustained cracks after a magnitude-5.7 quake that hit the area Wednesday, but authorities deemed them still safe for occupancy.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Thursday said minor cracks were seen in:

- the fourth floor of NCCC Mall in Maa
- Sta. Ana National High School Main Campus
- Ateneo de Davao University College department, annex building

However, it said the buildings were "still safe for occupancy."

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology earlier said the magnitude-5.7 quake hit Mati City in Davao Oriental before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

It was felt at Intensity V in Davao City and Mati City, and Intensity IV in Digos City, Don Marcelino and Malita in Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said the disaster risk reduction and management councils of Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley continue to inspect infrastructure for damage.

The Office of Civil Defense in Region 11 is closely monitoring developments after the quake.
