Robber shoots trader

A 56-YEAR-OLD rice trader is in critical condition after being shot by a robber as he was delivering sacks of rice in Barangay Dumoy, Davao City on Saturday. Police Officer (PO) 3 Harold Delima, investigator of the Talomo Police Station, identified the victim as Dhalia Taneza Canon, 56, a resident of Mabuhay, Bansalan in Davao del Sur.

Initial investigation showed that the victim, along with her driver and helper, was delivering sacks of rice when an unidentified armed man approached her and declared hold-up.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s shoulder bag but Canon resisted and fought back. She was shot.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on the right portion of her body and was brought to Malta Medical Center in Toril.

The robber was described as around 50 years old, of medium build, around 5’7” in height, and wearing black jacket. He fled on a motorcycle with the woman’s P18,000 cash and Nokia cellular phone.
