Fire hits Davao Duty Free

A fire hit a Duty Free Philippines shop in Davao City past midnight Thursday. Fire officials said initial investigation showed the blaze was triggered by a short circuit at the cashier area of the establishment in Francisco Bangoy International Aiport in Barangay Sasa, Buhangin District.

The fire, which reached the third alarm, spread fast since most of items contained in the store were alcoholic beverages.

It took firemen about 25 minutes to put out the flames.

An investigation is ongoing. The cost of damage from the fire has yet to de determined.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has so far recorded 23 fire incidents in the city in December.
