Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) raided two warehouses in Kidapawan City and Davao City, seizing fake detergent bars worth P8.2 million.

CIDG agents, armed with search warrants, swooped down on warehouses owned by Survive Marketing and DC Invest Inc. on August 12 on the complaint of the manufacturer of a popular detergent bar which conducted a test buy.

Authorities discovered that the two owners of the warehouses have been using the authentic detergent product in their own products with brands Barato Bar and Ganda Soap.

During the raid, operatives seized a total 8,019 boxes of Barato bar, which contained 36 bars per box; 1491 Ganda with Barato bars; 1,519 of Barato bars; 1,888 Ganda soap with attached 1/4 of Barato bar; and 435 Barato bars with attached Ganda soap.

Police is now preparing appropriate charges against the owners and operators of the warehouses for violation of the Unfair Competition, Rights, Regulation and Remedies in relation with the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
