Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has drawn the line as far as his support for President Benigno S. Aquino by oppoosing Charter change.

“The statement that says there must be a second term (for PNoy) to save democracy is pure b@#$%#t”, Duterte said.

The mayor is reacting to recent brouhaha among Malacañang supporters for the president’s term extension which can only be possible through constitutional change.

Duterte said Charter change will also limit the powers of the Supreme Court.

“Patay tayo d’yan”, Duterte said, pointing out that though the Constitution is only a piece of paper, it holds the country together, from Jolo to Aparri.

“You destroy that paper then you destroy the country”, he said.

But Duterte said Aquino is a clean president and if he could speak to him he would tell him to calm down and “not be the savior of this universe because we are not. Leave it to the people to decide”.

If Congress insists on constitutional change, Duterte said they should do it for good reason.

“But if you say that you are trying to amend the Constitution to save democracy then that’s an idiotic thing”, Duterte said, adding that democracy in the country is very much alive and the problem really are the politicians.
