THE City Government of Davao through the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) vows to distribute financial assistance to some 300 families whose houses were razed by fire on Thursday.

Maria Luisa Bermudo, CSSDO head, said it has been the department’s immediate action for every fire incident.

Based on their latest data, there are a total of 341 families affected by four-hour fire in Muslim Village Km. 11, Sasa, Davao City on Thursday morning.

Out of 341 families, 297 are house owners and the remaining 44 are renters.

The City Government will pour out P10,000 financial assistance to owners whose houses were totally damaged, P5,000 for partially damaged and renters will receive P3,000.

“Para magamit para ma restore or para sa ilang immediate na panginanlangon (To help them rebuild or to fund their immediate needs),” Bermudo said.

She said the CSSDO has also distributed lugaw (porridge) to the affected families, who temporarily stay in Fatima Gym in Sasa.

“Dili na maayo nga lugar para sa ila pero ginasigurado man pud sa atong City Health Office ang medical assistance nila (It’s not ideal for living thus the City health Office is also extending medical assistance),” she said.

Firefighters from Davao City Fire District, Bureau of Fire Protection, Fire Volunteers, Central 911 Urban Search and Rescue, and Filipino–Chinese Fire Fighter Brigades, among others, including the Philippine Air Force and the Marines, were able to totally control the fire around 12:50 p.m.
