Twin quakes hit off Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental

Two earthquakes struck waters off Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental provinces minutes apart early on Wednesday, Phivolcs said.
The first quake, with a Magnitude of 4.5, hit 374 kilometers southwest of Sarangani, Davao Occidental around 11:28 a.m. It had a depth of 270 kilometers, it said.
Fifteen minutes later, a stronger Magnitude 4.7 temblor struck 63 kilometers northeast of Baganga, Davao Oriental, it said.
At a depth of 11 meters, the quake was felt a "scarcely perceptible" Intensity 1 in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur, said Phivolcs.
The tectonic earthquakes came after a Magnitude 6.5 quake that injured 5 people across Visayas on Tuesday afternoon, and a Magnitude 6.1 temblor that left at least 16 dead in Luzon on Monday.
There is "nothing irregular" with consecutive quakes in Davao, said Phivolcs research specialist Henry PeƱarubia.
Wednesday's quakes are not expected to spawn aftershocks or damage to property, said Phivolcs.
