The Police Regional Office-11 (PRO-11) has reported a decrease in crime incidents at an average of 49 per week in Davao Region (Region 11) in the last three months.

Police Brig. Gen Marcelo Morales, PRO-11 director, noted that the average weekly crime incident in the same period last year was within the range of 69-70 cases.

For instance, Morales noted that in the last week of March (March 25-31), the police recorded 42 crime incidents throughout the region. The crimes included physical injuries, theft, robbery, murder, rape, stolen motorcycle units, and homicide.

Morales said the drop in the crime incidents can be attributed to the strict enforcement of local ordinances by various police units in the region.

In Davao City, the PRO-11 chief said the enforcement of local ordinances has been a key part of Oplan Dabaw Kalinaw--an integrated anti-criminality campaign that emphasizes the involvement of the community.

In addition, Morales said the sustained implementation of effective policing strategies and the prevailing election gun ban have also helped decrease the crime incidents across the region.

The police official also underscored the concerted effort and intensified law enforcement operations of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines to prevent and solve crimes.

"I can assure you that we will continue to intensify our anti-criminality operations to safeguard the people and ensure the maintenance of peace and order in the region," Morales said.

"Lasting peace and stability is what we need and in order to achieve it, we must be able to work together as one community and family," he added.
