Pawnshop worker faces raps for stealing jewelry

A Pawnshop employee is charged before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for allegedly stealing jewelry stored inside a vault and pawned it under her name.

Charged with four counts of qualified theft and two counts of estafa is Jenette T. Hisola. She was charged based on the complaint of Tyron Ryan C. Cruz, comptroller of Davao Helen’s Pawnshop.

Court records showed that Hisola was the vault custodian and cashier of the pawnshop.

She allegedly pawned a necklace worth P12,500 under her name which was owned by their customer Myrna Padilla On January 17, 2012.

She also pawned another necklace worth P6000 owned by Medelyn Ortiz on February 28, 2012.

Hisola also pawned an anklet worth P4,400 under a name of a certain Danily Ty which was owned by Aileen Baron on May 3, 2012 and a ring worth P6,500 under the name of Danilo Ty on June 13, 2012.

The complainant also presented evidence that she did not remit the P8,500 lay-away payment of Shiela Mae Tallorina on June 11 and the P5,500 redemption payment of Percinto Bustamante on June 24, 2012.

Hisola failed to file her counter-affidavit despite the subpoena dated September 3, 2012.

Prosecutor Samuel Atencia recommended a P100,000 bail for respondent.
