THE City Government of Davao will soon ink a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Johndorf Ventures Corporation for the construction of socialized housing units intended for government employees who are members of the Pag-ibig Fund.

The socialized housing units will be built in Los Amigos Relocation Phase 2 and Kalayaan Homes, Lasang, Davao City, and are intended for the local government unit employees, Department of Education teachers and non-teaching personnel, and police employees who are bonafide members of Pag-ibig.

The project gained ground after the City Council approved it on first reading during Tuesday’s regular session.

Based on the Resolution 14 of the Lcoal Housing Board, the Johndorf expressed its interest to enter into MOU with the City Government to address the housing backlog in the metropolis.

Johndorf is a duly recognized domestic corporation engaged in socialized housing construction.

Their company and project is a multi-million one focused on the construction of housing units based in Cebu, and even has an ongoing project in Cagayan and Mulig, Toril. The project is advantageous to the city and homeless employees who are members of Pag-ibig with the housing cost of P400,000 per unit.

If approved, the developer will pay the local government unit the amount of P17,500,000.

The City Government, on the other hand, will prepare and submit the list of prospect beneficiaries and will evaluate and approve the design and cost duly submitted by the developer.

Councilor Arnulfo Cabling said while the developer will shoulder the cost of land development, the offer of the Johndorf will be very advantageous to the city and is very realistic, instead of spending P25 million for the land development from the socialized housing fund.
