Before thousands of delegates and spectators from around the country, Davao del Norte signified its intention to host Palarong Pambansa.

Every delegation from the country’s 17 different regions showed off something that speaks of the region they are representing at the opening parade of this year’s Palarong Pambansa, but Region XI made sure their message comes across.

Impressed on a huge and long banner carried by the region’s athletes was the province's intent to host Palaro in 2015.

“See you in Davao del Norte (Tagum City)-2015 Palarong Pambansa,” the banner showed. Tagum City is the capital of Davao del Norte, a first class province.

With Department of Education Regional Director Gloria Benigno, leading over 600 officials, coaches and athletes of the region were Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario and Vice Governor Victorio Suaybaguio Jr.

Del Rosario had previously expressed desire to host the Palaro with the completion of the P243-million DavNor Sports and Cultural Center featured with Olympic-size swimming pool, all-weather oval track, and 3,000-capacity grandstand.

“Hosting Palarong Pambansa is our priority,” del Rosario said after winning the bid as host for the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet 2013.

In a bid to become a sporting capital, the governor said Davao del Norte is one of the most peaceful among provinces. This is on top of the world-class sports complex and support facilities we already have, he added.
