88 'hot spots' in Davao

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Davao region has recently disclosed the list of 88 villages that are considered areas of concern in relation to the upcoming May 2013 polls.

In a press briefing yesterday at the Abreeza Mall here, 10th ID Chief Major General Ariel Bernardo said the 88 villages considered as areas of concern due to the presence of the communist rebels. Of the 88 villages, 12 are in Davao City particularly in Paquibato District, 15 in Davao del Norte, 45 in Compostela Valley and 16 in Davao del Sur.

Among the municipalities named, the town of Montevista in Compostela Valley province has more number of villages included in the list totaling to about 12 and followed by Maco town in the same province with 13.
